Letea Forest shelters elements of flora and fauna specific to several regions such as the Balkans, the Mediterranean Sea, subtropical and steppe regions and is known for its ancient oaks, older than 400-500 years, the pine-tree nursery or the Greek liana vines, but also for the wild horses and the numeorus species of birds nesting here - about 113 species of which 106 are protected.
The Caraorman Forest, which means the Dark Forest in Turkish, situated near the homonimous village, also has its „stars”: the Kneeling Oak, the Table of Silence and of course, the variety of birds, including rare species, like the raven or the black woodpecker.
A lesser-known but equally interesting landmark is Erenciuc Forest, located on the banks of the channel to Lake Erenciuc, a spectacular black alder reserve, where the white-tailed eagle nests.
